Now replaced by the Raptor III, Raptor engines can and often are raced “out of the box.” They are built, however, with the intention of being blueprinted (built for customization) for the type of competition in which they will be used.

All Raptor racing engines are “4-Cycle” (sometimes called 4-Stroke) side-valve (flathead) designs. There are several advantages to our 4-Cycle design, among them: simplicity and low maintenance, great power over a wide range of speeds and hundreds of authorized Briggs & Stratton Motorsports Centers (link) whom you can turn to for information on setting up your engine for the type of racing you do.

Raptor engines are the Small Block Chevys of small motorsports engines. Almost every major maker of high performance components for automotive engines also makes special high performance parts for Raptors.
